Hi all, good day to you. I wanted to take a few minutes today and blog about the project that I’m working on. I announced several months ago that I was writing a cookbook. I am hoping to finish it very soon. Pharmacy School has kept me very busy and unable to work on it. However, I wanted to share my very first cookbook that I received as a child with you today.
The picture of the photo album on this blog was my very first cookbook. It was a cookbook my Nana created for me when I was a child and has expanded over the years. This photo album has some of my family’s favorite recipes listed on note cards. Most all the recipes were created from scratch, with love and the Lord’s blessings from the garden. It’s very special to me, and I have kept it all these years. I hope to pass it down to my children one day. Some of my favorite memories as a child was cooking with my Nana and Mother. My grandparents still grow, can and butcher most of their own food.
I remember running around outside barefoot, playing in the creek and coming to nana and papa’s house for a big bowl of beans and cornbread. My favorite food is still pinto beans and cornbread. I still run around barefoot. Haha so I guess that hasn’t changed, and I still go to their house for beans and cornbread. 🙂
I started writing a cookbook as family keepsake for my Nana and Mother who have taught me everything I know about southern cooking. I created this blog several months ago to share recipes, and now I will be able to share recipes with everyone from the blog and the cookbook. The book will contain recipes that were passed down to me from my family along with recipes that I have written. I try to write a variety of recipes from healthy, budget friendly, easy, and even the occasional “fancy” recipe while still staying true to my southern roots. I mean Bacon Grease is an important ingrediant. I’m also hoping to have a couple of canning recipes too, but I’m still learning to can myself. I will make a post once its ready to distribute.
I’m really excited to share these with you all. Thanks for reading my blog, sharing my recipes and enjoying the food that has brought my family so much happiness over the years. Keep an eye out for the cookbook to come soon! 🙂
