Salted Caramel Heath Bar Trifle Dessert

trifleThis is a quick, easy and semi-homemade dessert. Lately, I have been working on “all from scratch” cakes and cupcakes. But, this dessert is meant to be easy and quick so I use a Devils Food Box cake mix for this one. This dessert is great for summer and you can substitute your favorite candy bar for heath bar.

Let’s get cooking!

You will need:

1 Box of Devil’s Food Cake Mix and all ingredients per box

1 Box of Instant Chocolate Pudding Mix

3 cups of Milk

1 bag of Heath Bar Candy crushed pieces (you can find these with the chocolate chips on the baking asile)

1 cup of Caramel Ice Cream Topping

1 tub of Cool Whip thawed

Pinch or two of crushed Sea Salt

Directions:

Bake cake according to box and let cool. Cut cake into bite size squares. Next, whisk instant chocolate pudding mix with the milk. A pudding will form. Mix the chocolate pudding with the tub of cool whip. Finally mix a pinch of salt with the caramel. Now its time to layer. Place a layer of the chocolate cake into the bottom of a trifle dish, next add a layer of the chocolate pudding cool whip mixture, then add a layer of crushed Heath Bar and drizzle some caramel. Keep layering until you fill your dish or use all the ingredients. Top the dish with homemade whipped cream, drizzled caramel and crushed Heath Bar. For the homemade whipped cream, beat 1 and 1/2 cups of heavy cream with 2-3 tablespoons of powdered sugar for 2-3 minutes until a whipped cream forms. You could use regular cool whip too. Keep Refrigerated.
