Country Blackberry Jam

blackberryHomemade jams and jellies are delicious on a fresh hot biscuit. This recipe is really easy and tasty.

Let’s Get Canning!

You will need:

4 quarts of Blackberries cleaned

7-8 cups of Sugar

2 packages of liquid pectin (3oz packages) or gelatin


Place blackberries in a food processor and chop finely.  You can leave the seeds or press the blackberries through a cheese cloth or wire strainer to remove seeds. Place blackberries and sugar in a large pot and heat on medium heat until sugar melts. Stir continuously and then add the pectin. Bring to a boil and boil for 5 minutes until a thick jam forms. Remove any foam on top. Pour blackberry jam into HOT sterilized 1/2 pint mason jars and place lids on top of the jar and screw tops on tightly. Do this process very quickly. Place filled jars in a water bath and boil for another 5 minutes. Let cool.

These make great gifts too.
