Country White Gravy

Let’s Get Cooking!

You will need:

White Gravy

3 tablespoons of Butter

3 tablespoons of All-Purpose Flour

1 cup of Milk

Salt and Black Pepper for taste


Heat butter in a skillet, when butter is hot and melted, sprinkle in the flour. Whisk for 1 minute. Your flour will clump and that’s what you want. You are creating a roux. Next keep  whisking but slowly whisk in the milk. You don’t want your gravy to scorch on the bottom. Keep whisking on a medium heat until a thick gravy forms, then remove from heat.  Season with salt and black pepper. If you prefer a runny gravy, then add a little more milk. Serve over chicken, biscuits or mashed potatoes.

Tip: this is a great gravy with a little bacon grease or chicken drippings from fried chicken mixed in the gravy.
