Old-Fashioned Bread Pudding with a Vanilla Sauce

You Will Need:

1 Loaf of French Bread or Brioche Bread cubed (a day or two old)

4 cups of Milk

3 Large Eggs

1-2 teaspoons of Ground Cinnamon

1 teaspoon of Nut Meg

1 and 1/2 cups of Sugar

1 tablespoon of Vanilla Extract

3 tablespoons of Melted Butter


Whisk Eggs, Milk, Cinnamon, Vanilla, Butter, Sugar and Nut Meg together. Pour over the cubed bread and gently mix. Pour mixture into a casserole dish. Prepare a water bath. Fill a large casserole or turkey pan about 1/4 of the way with warm water. Gently set the casserole dish filled with breading pudding into the water bath ensuring that no water spills into the bread pudding. Bake at 350F for 40-45 minutes until set.

For the Vanilla Sauce:

In a sauce pan on medium to high heat, warm 1 cup of Heavy Cream with 1 teaspoon of Cinnamon, 1 stick of Butter,  1 cup of Brown Sugar and 1 tablespoon of Vanilla Extract or 1 Vanilla Bean scraped. Heat until boiling and then reduce heat. Simmer until cream sauce forms. Whisk Often. Pour sauce over bread pudding and enjoy!
